How this Filta Franchisee Transitioned out of Corporate America With Massachusetts Territory Acquisition

When you ask Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions new Franchisee Paulo Gouveia what made him consider investing in his Filta franchise the answer is simple, yet meaningful.

“My background is in the sciences, so when I started looking into what I could do in terms of starting a business, I knew I wanted something environmentally impactful,” said Paulo in a recent 1851 Franchise interview.. “Every time I help a company become even 1% more sustainable, it’s a meaningful change. That’s the biggest reason why I chose Filta.”

Background

Following a successful career in the scientific world, Paulo was ready for a change and wanted to take control of his future. In a partnership with his wife, Diana DePaolis, the upstart entrepreneurial couple recently acquired the southern Middlesex County territory in Massachusetts, making their business both a minority owned and woman owned company.

“In the corporate world, I never felt fully appreciated for my contributions. By starting my own company, I can build the business how I want it to be,” he told 1851 Franchise. “If you’re dedicated and a hard worker, you’re rewarded for it. You get a piece of the pie. I envision a company where employees have skin in the game; there’s profit sharing and employees can get equity. The bigger the company gets, the more I can do to give back.”
